Oh, Come on Chavez!

Chavez: U.S. Spy Plane Violated Venezuela's Airspace - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News - FOXNews.com

You are a corrupt dictator.  You are paranoid.  You are not good for the people of Venezuela.  The people of Venezuela deserve better.  They are good.

All done venting.

Health Care Again

This time I want to address this health care thing again from a different angle. I want ask you some questions.

1. What do YOU want to see in national health care?
2. From what you read and hear and research, how close does the bill presented by your representatives come to your expectations?
3. How much or your hard earned money do you thing should go to the government to pay for someone else health care?
4. Do you feel you would rather pay for health insurance yourself or pay the government for it?
5. Is universal health care beneficial to society, and if so, how would you do it so it was not run by corrupt politicians?
6. Do you think health care would be better or worse if the government is involved?

The questions keep coming. I am curious on this. I am torn with the thought of a society with healthy people and we "all get along" similar to a Star Trek fantasy, but in reality, as we all do not get along is it even possible for a system like this working? Anyways, I guess I better start working so I can pay for my medical whether it's private or not!

Education First

Jesuit Message Drives Detroit's Last Catholic School - TIME

I may not be the most religious person, but I have always admired the Jesuits and their efforts to educate.  I was taught in a college-prep high school by Jesuits.  The rigor and the game plan prepared me for life in general.  Of course if kids do not want to learn, then it is a waste of time.  Once the urge or want is there, it is amazing what some children and teens can do.  Money is not the driving factor to how well your child can learn.  Parents and a good school plus commitment makes for some real learning and fun.

Get educated.  It is good for you and others.

To Oil or Not To Oil

China's push for oil in Gulf of Mexico puts U.S. in awkward spot -- latimes.com

An interesting twist that will make our current regime squirm. If the U.S. allows China to drill in the Gulf of Mexico off of U.S. shores, then why do we not drill for ourselves? Business is business and the economy may force the use to "sell" the oil to China. So, instead of taking care of "her" people, us in the U.S., we take care of our welfare contingency with money from foreign parties.

Oh, how about them environmentalists lobbying to stop domestic drilling? What are they going to say? Oh, it's not our problem. I sense a large political hypocrisy around here.

How come I feel we are on the steep part of a slide? We were on top for so long, I guess the saying, "what goes up must come down" is true. The question is how hard is the landing? I think this will hurt if something is not done soon.

Another Side of the Micahel Moore Capitalism Thought

The Whole Point Of Capitalism - Forbes.com

Well, is Capitalism evil?  You tell me.  From what I read here is if capitalism is done right it will work.  Why does it not work now?  I conclude it is government.  Government seems to regulate the wrong side of capitalism making it easier for corruption.  If you are going to regulate, should you not regulate corruption OUT of the system instead of encouraging it?  Oh, I forgot, many politicians are corrupt.  Whatever happened to those who want to see our nation succeed?

I fear we will never see the idealistic "Star Trek" age.  I know I will not.  Will my children?  Yours?

Socialism suppresses progress, so that is not the answer.  This brings up the other question:  Where does progress come from and what system works best to entice progress?

Oh, so many questions.

Here's A Side We Rarely Hear

The UN & Israel

So, I like this perspective.  We always hear about how Israel "beats up" Palestine, but are we that blind on how Palestinians and Hamas started the whole thing?

What do you think?

Free Speech?

Yale draws criticism for nixing Muslim cartoons - World Faith- msnbc.com

I like this:  "Intellectual Cowardice".

Too many people have too thin skin.  Between violence and cowardice, this world is hurting.

Prattle: I like that Word

Ignore The ''Leadership'' Prattle - Forbes.com

This is a very interesting article and an interesting point of view.  Yes, it is an Opinion.  Remember those?  Everyone has one.

Anyways this "leadership" thing hit home as I've heard the same speech 20 years + ago!  The same drivel.  I agree with the author that higher education is NOT meant to make leaders out of everyone.  Not everyone will be a leader.  Not everyone wants to be a leader.  In some cases the non-leader with common sense get better jobs than the type-A brainwashed leader.

Anyways, you decide on your future, but I think the deans and "leaders" of these universities should rethink what higher education really means.

Sen. Ted Kennedy Dead

The cancer finally got him.  I'm not going to miss him.  I will say that he was dedicated.  Yes, there were some good things he brought forward.  I liked his brother better.

RIP, dude.

Good or Bad? Education and Economy

Foreigners Attending US Grad Schools Way Down: Wake Up, Xenophobes

A very interesting perspective.  I was talking with one of my vendors/friend about this very subject of schools and why so many of the students are foreign.  We both agree that part of the issue is these students work and study hard to achieve while many within our country spend more time playing games or receiving a "free ride".  These people do not have any incentive or drive to move ahead thinking they should be handed their education, and therefore their future jobs, on a silver platter.

What thoughts do you have on this?  Has our system failed us again?  Refer to the Idiot's Bookstore and the book, Dumbing Down Our Kids.

Health Care Bill H.R. 3200

OK, folks, if you said you could not find this bill to read, here it is: H.R. 3200

I've begun to wade through some of it and I really do not like some of the verbiage. I'm starting to wonder if some of these wacky talk show hosts are on to something. There are government orders in this. Kinda scary.

I believe we need some sort of reform, but having this monster is crazy. Health care is complicated enough already.

Anyways, you choose your side. I'll continue with my stance. Change, yes. This change, no.

Another Frivolous Lawsuit

Hot dogs should carry a warning label, lawsuit says - Los Angeles Times

Once again people will NOT take responsibility for themselves and ask the government and law makers to protect them.

DO NOT EAT HOTDOGS IF YOU FEEL THEY ARE UNSAFE!  You do not need someone to tell you that.

Again, people are, in general, idiots!

Health Care Continues

ObamaCare: Who Gets Hit And How Hard - Forbes.com

It is interesting to hear the stories on this.  I do not think the proposed bill will fix much for anyone.  It also punishes those that produce and drive our nation.

I agree we need a reform, but I do not believe in a national health care system.  England is a mess and we have had personal experience with Canada's mess.  Someone we knew was stuck in the HALLWAY and needing oxygen was ignored for almost 2 days!

I say we fix our current problem by:

>>Not allowing pharmaceutical companies to advertise directly to the public.  People are stupid by nature and will believe anything they see on the "boob tube".
>>Insurance companies should not be allowed to dictate what treatment is prescribed for a patients.  Everyone is different and must be treated accordingly.  Only, we suppose, doctors know what is best.  You know the professionals.
>>There must be a way to get insurance for those with existing medical conditions, especially those who did not ask for such conditions.

Things I will not pay for:
Smokers killing themselves.
Drug addicts.
Other poeple's birth control.

I think you get the picture.

Goddamn Jackasses!

Went to a Costco today. Picked up a T.V. Nice. Went out to dinner when we discovered some jackass scraped the side of my car! Asshole! Fucker! Dick! No note. Nothing. Scraped the plastic and left a bunch of blue paint. It could have been worse.

Here's what I think. Most people in the world do not care about anything but two things: 1. Themselves, and 2. How will the government take care of them. Oh, wait that is redundant.

No one. No one takes responsibility for themselves or their actions. Integrity? Where has that gone? All these people do is blame others. Blame their friends if they have to. For what? Some goddamn jackass damages someones property and runs! That pisses me off to no end. Goddamn sons of bitches!

Interesting Article on the New Engergy Bill

Will The Global Warming Bill Cool The Global Economy? - Forbes.com

This was an interesting read, though long.  I do not like this particular bill.  I think it was a rush job by Obama to "stick" with his promises made during his campaign.  There are many alternatives out there and I believe taxes would go up, but not like what this one does.  Oh, and the cost of energy would go up too.  In a time like now, more taxes and more costs to the consumer would not help a recovery.  Overall, we be hurtin'.

Ethanol is a waste.  For some reason politicians think it is more important to grow corn for fuel than feed people who are starving WITHIN our country.  Geez.  I am a fan of biodiesel, but I have no way of implementing it in my life.  Ah, the chicken and egg thing!  How can people take advantage of environmental saving products if the products do not exist?  Likewise why manufacture environmentally friendly products if no one will buy them?  And, they will most likely be manufactured in China or some other country because the cost of labor in this country is so high.

Not a lot of the liberal good feelings come out of this.  Feel free to weigh in on your view.

It's About Time

White firefighters were victims of discrimination, Supreme Court rules - Los Angeles Times

Seems like this was bound to happen.  Can you believe that the state would blatantly throw out high testing people (note no color mentioned here) because there were no qualified or high testing minorities?  PEOPLE folks.  Drop this race B.S.  If someone is more qualified than another, then that person deserves the right to move on, make a fool of themselves, and/or succeed.  Period.

Calculating The True Cost Of Carbon - Forbes.com

Calculating The True Cost Of Carbon - Forbes.com

This is one very interesting article. My opinion on this whole carbon thing is pure disgust. How can one measure this? How can a government or business measure/calculate this carbon stuff. Credits? What credits? It sounds like a very bad science fiction movie. Another liberal scam.

Parents are urged to demand more from L.A. schools - Los Angeles Times

Parents are urged to demand more from L.A. schools - Los Angeles Times

The title bothers me as I believe it is the schools that should demand more from the parents. Our society led us to both parents having to work. Our society set up this education disaster. Even though more parents are "volunteering", it is not the norm.

At the same time the schools, should be read "government", and UNIONS have created a situation where a parent who wishes to volunteer for a position vacated due to "cutbacks" is also turned away with the statement "that is a union position and you cannot have it."

I call BS on this. If a parent, my mom volunteered as a librarian in the past, has the time and wants to help out, gratis, then why not let them. You save money and you get a parent who wants to be involved.

I also believe that throwing money at the educational system will not help. The schools of today are advanced daycare centers. Parents drop their problem child off and they go work. Between the liberal stance "we cannot hurt a childs self-esteem" and the lack of discipline allowed schools are worthless.

1. Children who cannot pass should be held back to take the curriculum again. F self-esteem. It did not hurt me!
2. Kids that behave poorly or are down right evil must be punished. No more of the parents whining, "Johnny is a good kid and he would never do such and such." BULLSHIT. Smack the bastard. Detention. That's what I had to deal with and it was well worth that extra "think twice before doing it" mentality.

I'm rambling now, your thoughts?

Obama Delivers the Zingers at Journalists' Dinner - washingtonpost.com

Obama Delivers the Zingers at Journalists' Dinner - washingtonpost.com

I'm all for jokes and fun and games. I still have some issue with this event: Who pays for it? Who trusts the media for a state sponsored event for them?

I could be stupid and this is not a state sponsored event, but it sounds good, eh?

You make up your own mind.

The Fly-by

White House aide resigns over NY flyover

Friday, May 08, 2009 9:12PM UTC

By Steve Holland

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A White House military aide who authorized an Air Force flyover of New York that caused panic among some people in the city resigned on Friday.

Got this from Reuters. If you see the article you will see the government allowed itself to WASTE a bit over a quarter-million dollars. Not just money, OUR money. Taxpayer money. Checks and balances? The government is too big.

Obama proposes new rules on job training - Los Angeles Times

Obama proposes new rules on job training - Los Angeles Times

How do you feel about the government telling you how to do job training?

Also, I heard on the radio that Obama wants to create new jobs in manufacturing and less desk jockey, paper-pushing type jobs. If this is the case why did government paper-pushing jobs outpace the private sector manufacturing jobs? We are also a technological society, so we will not have as many manufacturing jobs as say, China. I think we are in a state of confusion on what our country really is: Technological or Industrial? Once we address this, things may get better in the long run. The tough part: Convincing the rest of the world what our "status" is. The biggest problem with being a "leader."

Do You Think the Government can.....

Just a few questions came up while having a discussion with friends. Ask yourself how you feel about the following:

Do you think the government can run health care better than the private sector?

Do you think the government can run an automaker better than the private sector?

In what area can the government run better than others?

It seems difficult to trust an entity that cannot explain clearly where our money goes. They always want more "for the good of the people," but they cannot account for it. They make private business account for everything. Seems a bit hypocritical.

What do you think? Try to make it clear to me how we got here.

What Do You See?

I am curious. What do you see with all these tax hikes? How do you feel about it? I want to hear from both sides.

1. Are raising taxes good?
2. Should the tax rate be the same or lower?
3. What does the government really do with the money?

I really think raising taxes at this time is very bad. I do not know what our government, city, state, national, does with the money. No one even cares. Why is the government not audited like a business?

Any thoughts?

Freedom? Constitution? What next?

Do you feel our Constitutional rights are on the verge of being taken away? If you are a person exercising their right to bear arms, do you feel threatened? How about being able to speak up and say your opinion?

I bet many would answer Yes to these questions. To me it seems these liberals use the Constitution to get what they want and once they get it, they wish to change it so no one else can have the rights for whatever.

Do you want freedom where everyone runs rampant and thus becomes a need to control, say, guns? Would you rather have a society of Law and Order where people are judged fairly and stupid lawsuits are thrown out on the street?

Where do you think this country is headed? Let's be honest now.

Financial Oxymoronic?

Here's one for you. Financial analysts de-rated the stock of a very sound financial company. Their reasoning: The company does not qualify for government aid.

How ABSURD! Aren't the companies that "qualify" for "bail-out" funds also the companies that are IN TROUBLE? Does not "bail-out" mean "Save Our Asses"?

I equate a company that does not need aid as a company that is strong and self-reliant. Solvent is also a term used for a "good" company.

Things like this piss me off. These analysts should be fired for such idiotic behavior. It makes you wonder why there are people pushing this financial crisis deeper into the hole. Is there really a crisis or is it all a front to some bigger scheme. By whom? Break out the conspiracy theories! Let the fun begin.

Short Obama Poll

Not scientific, but the majority "Dislike" Obama.

Interesting. 3 people marked this. 2 were 50/50 and 2 were like. 1 really likes Obama.

Let's see what is next.

A Little Poll Thing

I see Blogger has a poll gadget now. Let's see how this works for us. You have to the end of the month to vote. Be honest. Let's see how you compare to these "official" polls out there.

Do you even trust polls? Do you like polls?

Future poll questions:
1. Do you own a gun?
2. Who will rule the world?
3. Is government too big?

Enjoy.

Bail out? For Who?

I really do not understand this bail out. It is our money. Anyone who pays taxes is putting up the money for this bail out. Do companies that pay CEO's billions of dollars worthy of our money?

Correct me if I am wrong. Where is this bail out money coming from? Where is it going? Accountability. There is this Sarbain-Oxley stuff for public companies. Most companies have audits done to protect their asses. What does the government have? Anyone auditing big government. Another reason to reduce the size of government.

If you can help me understand this, maybe you can help our lawmakers understand what is going on. Thanks.

Have you looked around you?

I happen to live in a city ( I call it a big small town) that has/had a football team in the playoffs. It is quite amazing to me how far people go to "support" their team. I see it more as how silly band-wagoners are. Where were these people when the team was doing poorly? What makes this stuff the top news story of the night?

What irks me even more is how drunk and obnoxious these people get. An excuse to party and drink. Does anyone care about enjoying a good game for its entertainment value any longer or has the entertainment migrated from what occurs on the field to what occurs in the stands or even the neighbors house?

I must say it is quite amusing to see these poor folks when the loss occurs. I must be sick to take such pleasure in their "false" misery. I have been told I am "twisted".

Good luck to those team still playing!

Israel v. Hamas

You can call me whatever you want, but I think the media and the rest of the world has been too harsh on Israel. I could be wrong, but this last wave of conflict started with Hamas shooting rockets into Israel, right? So why the big deal the Israel retaliates and big?

Oh, they are killing civilians! Who cares! The damned Hamas are using residential, civilian, neighborhoods to shoot their missiles and store arms. Is the world that blind and sympathetic to Islamic nations today to avoid the truth?

Personally I am sick of all the idiots in the Middle East. For thousands of years these people, if you want to give them that honor, have been killing each other. No matter what we or anyone does, they will continue to kill each other. I say put a fence around the whole damned area and let them duke it out. Grow up people, this has gone too far.

All this violence is slowing creeping into this country. We already have people killing others over the most stupid things. No one seems to value life any longer. It is quite disgusting. More people should study the far eastern philosophies. Maybe then will the world become peaceful.
