There is no hope for humans.....

Police clear Venice Beach after 70 young men start brawling on boardwalk - latimes.com

Seems there is no hope for our future.  Note the age group here:  14-17 years old.  Also note that the article politically correctly does not mention any race.  In this case it is a good thing, but do note that it may be "gang related."

Sometimes it makes you wonder.  That's all.

Guns & People

OK. So.  Do guns kill people or do people kill people?

Do you regulate guns or people?

I believe you regulate people.

What do you think?

Should Toyota's President Testify?

Do you think it is "right" or "justified" that the president of Toyota, Akio Toyoda, must testify before Congress?  I do not know all the details, but to me this seems a bit absurd.  I think Toyota was made aware of an issue.  They acted on this issue by recalling their vehicles to fix the issue.  To me they are acting as a responsible company by taking responsibility.  They should not be reprimanded for being responsible.  No wonder people are afraid to take responsibility.  If you do the right thing you get bashed for it.

Anyone have more detail on why this congressional hearing is taking place?  I need to spend some time looking into it.  My gut says it is not fair.

Oh, Come on Chavez!

Chavez: U.S. Spy Plane Violated Venezuela's Airspace - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News - FOXNews.com

You are a corrupt dictator.  You are paranoid.  You are not good for the people of Venezuela.  The people of Venezuela deserve better.  They are good.

All done venting.

Health Care Again

This time I want to address this health care thing again from a different angle. I want ask you some questions.

1. What do YOU want to see in national health care?
2. From what you read and hear and research, how close does the bill presented by your representatives come to your expectations?
3. How much or your hard earned money do you thing should go to the government to pay for someone else health care?
4. Do you feel you would rather pay for health insurance yourself or pay the government for it?
5. Is universal health care beneficial to society, and if so, how would you do it so it was not run by corrupt politicians?
6. Do you think health care would be better or worse if the government is involved?

The questions keep coming. I am curious on this. I am torn with the thought of a society with healthy people and we "all get along" similar to a Star Trek fantasy, but in reality, as we all do not get along is it even possible for a system like this working? Anyways, I guess I better start working so I can pay for my medical whether it's private or not!

Education First

Jesuit Message Drives Detroit's Last Catholic School - TIME

I may not be the most religious person, but I have always admired the Jesuits and their efforts to educate.  I was taught in a college-prep high school by Jesuits.  The rigor and the game plan prepared me for life in general.  Of course if kids do not want to learn, then it is a waste of time.  Once the urge or want is there, it is amazing what some children and teens can do.  Money is not the driving factor to how well your child can learn.  Parents and a good school plus commitment makes for some real learning and fun.

Get educated.  It is good for you and others.

To Oil or Not To Oil

China's push for oil in Gulf of Mexico puts U.S. in awkward spot -- latimes.com

An interesting twist that will make our current regime squirm. If the U.S. allows China to drill in the Gulf of Mexico off of U.S. shores, then why do we not drill for ourselves? Business is business and the economy may force the use to "sell" the oil to China. So, instead of taking care of "her" people, us in the U.S., we take care of our welfare contingency with money from foreign parties.

Oh, how about them environmentalists lobbying to stop domestic drilling? What are they going to say? Oh, it's not our problem. I sense a large political hypocrisy around here.

How come I feel we are on the steep part of a slide? We were on top for so long, I guess the saying, "what goes up must come down" is true. The question is how hard is the landing? I think this will hurt if something is not done soon.

Another Side of the Micahel Moore Capitalism Thought

The Whole Point Of Capitalism - Forbes.com

Well, is Capitalism evil?  You tell me.  From what I read here is if capitalism is done right it will work.  Why does it not work now?  I conclude it is government.  Government seems to regulate the wrong side of capitalism making it easier for corruption.  If you are going to regulate, should you not regulate corruption OUT of the system instead of encouraging it?  Oh, I forgot, many politicians are corrupt.  Whatever happened to those who want to see our nation succeed?

I fear we will never see the idealistic "Star Trek" age.  I know I will not.  Will my children?  Yours?

Socialism suppresses progress, so that is not the answer.  This brings up the other question:  Where does progress come from and what system works best to entice progress?

Oh, so many questions.

Here's A Side We Rarely Hear

The UN & Israel

So, I like this perspective.  We always hear about how Israel "beats up" Palestine, but are we that blind on how Palestinians and Hamas started the whole thing?

What do you think?

Free Speech?

Yale draws criticism for nixing Muslim cartoons - World Faith- msnbc.com

I like this:  "Intellectual Cowardice".

Too many people have too thin skin.  Between violence and cowardice, this world is hurting.

Prattle: I like that Word

Ignore The ''Leadership'' Prattle - Forbes.com

This is a very interesting article and an interesting point of view.  Yes, it is an Opinion.  Remember those?  Everyone has one.

Anyways this "leadership" thing hit home as I've heard the same speech 20 years + ago!  The same drivel.  I agree with the author that higher education is NOT meant to make leaders out of everyone.  Not everyone will be a leader.  Not everyone wants to be a leader.  In some cases the non-leader with common sense get better jobs than the type-A brainwashed leader.

Anyways, you decide on your future, but I think the deans and "leaders" of these universities should rethink what higher education really means.

Sen. Ted Kennedy Dead

The cancer finally got him.  I'm not going to miss him.  I will say that he was dedicated.  Yes, there were some good things he brought forward.  I liked his brother better.

RIP, dude.

Good or Bad? Education and Economy

Foreigners Attending US Grad Schools Way Down: Wake Up, Xenophobes

A very interesting perspective.  I was talking with one of my vendors/friend about this very subject of schools and why so many of the students are foreign.  We both agree that part of the issue is these students work and study hard to achieve while many within our country spend more time playing games or receiving a "free ride".  These people do not have any incentive or drive to move ahead thinking they should be handed their education, and therefore their future jobs, on a silver platter.

What thoughts do you have on this?  Has our system failed us again?  Refer to the Idiot's Bookstore and the book, Dumbing Down Our Kids.

Health Care Bill H.R. 3200

OK, folks, if you said you could not find this bill to read, here it is: H.R. 3200

I've begun to wade through some of it and I really do not like some of the verbiage. I'm starting to wonder if some of these wacky talk show hosts are on to something. There are government orders in this. Kinda scary.

I believe we need some sort of reform, but having this monster is crazy. Health care is complicated enough already.

Anyways, you choose your side. I'll continue with my stance. Change, yes. This change, no.

Another Frivolous Lawsuit

Hot dogs should carry a warning label, lawsuit says - Los Angeles Times

Once again people will NOT take responsibility for themselves and ask the government and law makers to protect them.

DO NOT EAT HOTDOGS IF YOU FEEL THEY ARE UNSAFE!  You do not need someone to tell you that.

Again, people are, in general, idiots!

Health Care Continues

ObamaCare: Who Gets Hit And How Hard - Forbes.com

It is interesting to hear the stories on this.  I do not think the proposed bill will fix much for anyone.  It also punishes those that produce and drive our nation.

I agree we need a reform, but I do not believe in a national health care system.  England is a mess and we have had personal experience with Canada's mess.  Someone we knew was stuck in the HALLWAY and needing oxygen was ignored for almost 2 days!

I say we fix our current problem by:

>>Not allowing pharmaceutical companies to advertise directly to the public.  People are stupid by nature and will believe anything they see on the "boob tube".
>>Insurance companies should not be allowed to dictate what treatment is prescribed for a patients.  Everyone is different and must be treated accordingly.  Only, we suppose, doctors know what is best.  You know the professionals.
>>There must be a way to get insurance for those with existing medical conditions, especially those who did not ask for such conditions.

Things I will not pay for:
Smokers killing themselves.
Drug addicts.
Other poeple's birth control.

I think you get the picture.

Goddamn Jackasses!

Went to a Costco today. Picked up a T.V. Nice. Went out to dinner when we discovered some jackass scraped the side of my car! Asshole! Fucker! Dick! No note. Nothing. Scraped the plastic and left a bunch of blue paint. It could have been worse.

Here's what I think. Most people in the world do not care about anything but two things: 1. Themselves, and 2. How will the government take care of them. Oh, wait that is redundant.

No one. No one takes responsibility for themselves or their actions. Integrity? Where has that gone? All these people do is blame others. Blame their friends if they have to. For what? Some goddamn jackass damages someones property and runs! That pisses me off to no end. Goddamn sons of bitches!

Interesting Article on the New Engergy Bill

Will The Global Warming Bill Cool The Global Economy? - Forbes.com

This was an interesting read, though long.  I do not like this particular bill.  I think it was a rush job by Obama to "stick" with his promises made during his campaign.  There are many alternatives out there and I believe taxes would go up, but not like what this one does.  Oh, and the cost of energy would go up too.  In a time like now, more taxes and more costs to the consumer would not help a recovery.  Overall, we be hurtin'.

Ethanol is a waste.  For some reason politicians think it is more important to grow corn for fuel than feed people who are starving WITHIN our country.  Geez.  I am a fan of biodiesel, but I have no way of implementing it in my life.  Ah, the chicken and egg thing!  How can people take advantage of environmental saving products if the products do not exist?  Likewise why manufacture environmentally friendly products if no one will buy them?  And, they will most likely be manufactured in China or some other country because the cost of labor in this country is so high.

Not a lot of the liberal good feelings come out of this.  Feel free to weigh in on your view.
